6. IaidoMuso Jikiden Eishin Ryu iaido is a 450-year-old martial art that involves the fast draw of the Japanese sword. The art is designed to teach students the proper handling of a sword, as well as the correct mental attitude to handle oneself. It promotes coordination, stress relief and mental development for every practitioner through a program that has been tested for centuries. Neil Melancon has been practicing for 10 years and has achieved the rank of sixth dan. His instructors are Tanida Hiroshi sensei of Chiba, Japan and John Ray sensei of Denton, Texas, under the auspices of the soke of Eishin Ryu, Ikeda Takashi soke of Sakai City, Japan. Anyone interested in participating must first watch an entire class. Questions are encouraged, but please come 15 minutes before class time so your questions can be answered. |
